Tactical Team

The Crow Wing County Tactical Response Team is a multi-jurisdictional team comprised of members from the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office, Brainerd Police Department, Baxter Police Department, and Breezy Point Police Department. The Tactical Response Team also has tactical medics from North Ambulance. In 2019, the Tactical Response Team was activated six times serving high risk drug related warrants and responding to barricaded suspect incidents.

A position on the tactical team is voluntary and to maintain a position on the team, members must attend realistic, stress induced training twice a month. Three times throughout the year team members are required to take a rigorous physical fitness test which includes weight lifting and cardiovascular exercises that measure strength, speed and endurance. Members of the team are also required 3 times a year to qualify with an expert rating on all tactical weapons.

Members of the Tactical Response Team are highly trained and specially equipped to handle a variety of high risk situations to include: felony arrest warrants, narcotics related warrants, barricaded suspects, hostage situations, active shooter responses and woodland patrols and searches.

Within the Tactical Response Team are several specialized units including an entry element, sniper observer team, gas team, breaching team, K-9 team and a bomb squad for explosive entries.
